The Works Field Trip
Kindergarteners discovered the wonderful world of science and engineering this week. They learned how to make glow in the dark slime, explore light and heat sensors, maneuver pulleys, build structures, play music on a stringless harp and create and race wheel vehicles. Thank you to all of the wonderful chaperones that helped our day run smoothly.
Multi-generational Interviews
We spent part of our time at the nearby senior living building interviewing residents in their 80's and 90's. The students created their interview questions and played "What is your favorite?" In small groups. We were lucky to have several high school students that wanted to participate. The 3 generations had non-stop conversations and many laughs. Students learned about things of the past and a lot about needs and wants as they soon realized that they have many more amenities and possessions than the seniors did. We look forward to spending more time with our new "old" friends.
Our Kindergarten Maps
We learned about maps by comparing them to photographs, looking at some online and creating our own maps (of their own bedroom). They enjoyed drawing them and sharing them with friends.
